Care & Troubleshooting

  • Candle and wax melt care is vital to long-lasting results. Never use water to put out a wax fire - smother the flames to deprive it of oxygen.

Follow these tips to get the most out of your Lucasta candle:

  1. Never leave lit candle unattended.
  2. Store in a cool, dry place.
  3. Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
  4. Trim wick to about 1/4" before lighting. Wick Trimmer
  5. During the first burn, allow candle to burn approximately 1 hour per inch of the vessel's diameter. This will allow for an even burn pool - preventing tunneling.
  6. Keep candle free from debris, dust, and flammable objects. Keep away from pets and children.
  7. Burn on a fire-resistant, level surface. Never extinguish a candle with water.
  8. When wick blackens and curls, be sure to trim off excess before re-lighting. Wick Trimmer
  9. Stop use when 1/2" wax remains.
  10. It's recommended to use a candle lighter to reach wicks depending on the vessel. Lucasta Lighter
  11. To clean vessel, scrape out excess wax and then pour hot water in it with a bit of dish soap and let it soak. Use wick hook to remove leftover wick and wick sticker. Wick hook When water turns cold, repeat hot water method until you're able to use a dish scrubber to fully clean.

Follow these tips to get the most out of your Lucasta wax melts:

  1. Do not leave warmer on through the night or for extended times. Refer to manufacturer's guidance on best practices to operate your wax warmer.
  2. Avoid melting over a high-heat open flame.
  3. Do not boil wax - this is a serious fire hazard.
  4. Use wax melt inserts to effortlessly switch out and dispose of used scents. Wax Melt Inserts
  5. Store in a cool, dry place.
  6. When scent is no longer present, replace wax.

Troubleshooting

Candle wax is tunneling - Candle is not burning evenly

  • Upon first burn, be sure to allow candle wax to melt evenly by burning approximately 1 hour per inch diameter of vessel.
  • Scrape out unburned wax from sides and dispose or use in a wax warmer. Then, burn candle as if it was the first burn.

Wick drowned in wax - Wick lost

  • This is an indication that there is too much wax in the candle. It's possible the wick was trimmed too short.
  • Melt and pour out or scrape some wax from the candle until the wick is free, then re-light. Alternatively, cotton balls may be used to absorb melted wax - make sure candle isn't lit while doing this.
  • Use a wick hook to pull wick up from wax. Wick hook

Black soot visible on vessel - Soot in air

  • Organic soy wax typically emits very minimal soot. Should this happen, chances are the wick is too long and it needs to be trimmed. Wick Trimmer

Wax spill

  • On a hard surface: Let wax completely cool and harden. Use a plastic putty knife to scrape wax off surface. Leftover residue can be removed using an adhesive removal product.
  • On carpet: Let wax completely cool and harden. Cut up a paper bag and place a piece over the spill. Use a heat gun on the lowest temp to go back and forth over the bag until wax seeps into the bag. Continue the process, replacing the bag as needed. *Always move the heat gun around and avoid heating too close to the bag. Scrub up some hardened wax pieces when possible. Use paper towels intermittently to soak up wet wax.
